Algebra, VIII, p. 343, § 17. Reduced Norms and Traces

Let AoA^o be the opposite algebra of A. For every aa in A, we have

(40) PcrdAo/K(a;X)=_{A^o/K}(a; X) = PcrdA/K(a;X)_{A/K}(a; X),

(41) TrdAo/K(a)=_{A^o/K}(a) = TrdA/K(a)_{A/K}(a),

(42) NrdAo/K(a)=_{A^o/K}(a) = NrdA/K(a)_{A/K}(a).

Choose an extension L of K, a vector space V of dimension nn over L, and a homomorphism θ\theta from A to EndL(V)_L(V) (VIII, p. 252, Theorem 1). Let V∗V^* be the dual vector space of V. The mapping that sends an element aa of A to the endomorphism tθ(a)^t\theta (a) of V∗V^* is a K-algebra homomorphism from AoA^o to EndL(V∗)_L(V^*). Corollary 3 then follows from Corollary 1 and Corollary 3 of III, §8, No. 4, p. 528.

The trace, norm, and characteristic polynomial of aa are therefore the same whether we view aa as an element of A or as an element of AoA^o. This property does not always hold when A is not assumed central simple (III, §9, p. 644, Exercise 1).

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
