Algebra, VIII, p. 342, § 17. Reduced Norms and Traces

Let L be an extension of K. Let V be a vector space of dimension nn over L and θ\theta a K-algebra homomorphism from A to EndL(V)_L(V). For every element aa of A, we have

(31) PcrdA/K(a;X)=χθ(a)(X)_{A/K}(a; X) =\chi_{\theta(a)}(X),

(32) TrdA/K(a)=_{A/K}(a) = Tr(θ(a)\theta (a)),

(33) NrdA/K(a)=_{A/K}(a) = det(θ(a)\theta (a)).

Let θ′\theta ' be the L-algebra homomorphism from A(L)A_{(L)} to EndL(V)_L(V) such that θ′(λ⊗a)=λθ(a)\theta '(\lambda \otimes a) =\lambda \theta (a) for λ∈L\lambda \in L and a∈Aa\in A. The algebra A(L)A_{(L)} is simple by Corollary 2 of VIII, p. 222; the homomorphism θ′\theta ' is therefore injective. But the algebras A(L)A_{(L)} and EndL(V)_L(V) over the field L have the same degree, equal to n2n^2, so θ′\theta ' is an isomorphism. Corollary 1 then follows from Proposition 4 and Example 2 above.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
