Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 3. Compact forms of complex semi-simple Lie algebras
a) The compact real forms of the complex Lie algebra are the algebras , where belongs to the set of separating positive hermitian forms on the complex vector space V.
b) The algebras are the compact real forms of .
Let be a separating positive hermitian form on V. For all (V), put (where is the adjoint of relative to ). Then satisfies conditions (2) of Prop. 1 of no. 1, so the set (resp. ) of fixed points of on (resp. ) is a compact real form of (resp. ). Since operates transitively on the set of separating positive hermitian forms on V (Algebra, Chap. IX) and on the set of compact real forms of (no. 3, Th. 1 and Chap. VIII, §13, no. 1 (VII)), Prop. 4 is proved.
Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
