Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 4. Root system associated to a compact group

The weights of the representation ρ\rho of G, relative to a maximal torus T of G, are the elements λ\lambda of X(T) such that V~λ(T)≠0\widetilde{V}_{\lambda}(T)\not= 0.

Denote by P(ρ,T)P(\rho ,T), or by P(ρ)P(\rho ) if there is no possibility of confusion over the choice of T, the set of weights of ρ\rho relative to T. By Lemma 1,

V~=⨁λ∈P(ρ,T)V~λ(T)(7) \widetilde{V} =\bigoplus_{\lambda\in P(\rho ,T)}\widetilde{V}_{\lambda}(T) \tag{7}

Let T′T' be another maximal torus of G and gg an element of G such that (Int gg)T=T′(T = T'(§2, no. 2, Th. 2). For all λ∈X(T)\lambda \in X(T),

ρ~(g)(V~λ(T))=V~λ′(T′)\widetilde{\rho}(g)( \widetilde{V}_{\lambda}(T)) = \widetilde{V}_{\lambda'}(T'), where λ′=\lambda '= X(Int g−1g^{-1})(λ)(\lambda ). (8)

Consequently,

X(Int gg)(P(ρ,T′))=P(ρ,T)(P(\rho ,T')) = P(\rho ,T). (9)

The Weyl group W=WG(T)W = W_G(T) operates on the left on the Z\mathbf{Z}-module X(T) by w→X(w−1)w \rightarrow X(w^{-1}); thus, for t∈T,λ∈X(T),w∈Wt\in T, \lambda \in X(T), w\in W, we have twλ=(w−1(t))λt^{w\lambda}= (w^{-1}(t))^{\lambda}.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
