Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter IX, § 4. Root system associated to a compact group

a) For all λ∈X(T)\lambda \in X(T), we have V~λ(T)=V~δ(λ)(tC)\widetilde{V}_{\lambda}(T) = \widetilde{V}_{\delta(\lambda)}(\mathfrak{t}_{\mathbf{C}}).

b) The map δ:X(T)→\delta : X(T)\rightarrow HomC(tC,C)_{\mathbf{C}}(\mathfrak{t}_{\mathbf{C}},\mathbf{C}) induces a bijection from P(ρ,T)P(\rho ,T) to the set of weights of tC\mathfrak{t}_{\mathbf{C}} on V~\widetilde{V}.

Note first that, if W operates on tC\mathfrak{t}_{\mathbf{C}} by associating to any element ww of W the endomorphism L(w)(C)L(w)_{(\mathbf{C})} of tC\mathfrak{t}_{\mathbf{C}}, the map δ\delta is compatible with the operation of W on X(T) and HomC(tC,C)_{\mathbf{C}}(\mathfrak{t}_{\mathbf{C}},\mathbf{C}).

Assume now that k=Rk=\mathbf{R}. Denote by σ\sigma the conjugation of V~\widetilde{V} relative to V, defined by σ(x+iy)=x−iy\sigma (x+iy) =x-iy for x,yx, y in V; for every complex vector subspace E of V~\widetilde{V}, the smallest subspace of V~\widetilde{V} rational over R\mathbf{R} and containing E is E+σ(E)E +\sigma (E). In particular, for all λ∈X(T)\lambda \in X(T), there exists a real vector subspace V(λ)V(\lambda ) of V such that the subspace V(λ)(C)V(\lambda )_{(\mathbf{C})} of V~\widetilde{V} is V~λ(T)+V~−λ(T)\widetilde{V}_{\lambda}(T) + \widetilde{V}_{-\lambda}(T) (note that σ(V~λ(T))=V~−λ(T)\sigma ( \widetilde{V}_{\lambda}(T)) = \widetilde{V}_{-\lambda}(T)). We have V(λ)=V(−λ)V(\lambda ) = V(-\lambda ), and the V(λ)V(\lambda ) are the isotypical components of the representation of T on V induced by ρ\rho.

Bourbaki sets the proof directly after the statement, and the corpus does not separate them, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
