Algebra, chapter I, § 8. Rings

Let a,b1,…,bna, b_1, \ldots, b_n be two-sided ideals of AA. If A=a+biA = a + b_i for all ii, then A=a+b1b2…bn=a+(b1∩b2∩⋯∩bn)A = a + b_1 b_2 \ldots b_n = a + (b_1 \cap b_2 \cap \cdots \cap b_n).

By (21) it suffices to prove that A=a+b1b2…bnA = a + b_1 b_2 \ldots b_n. By induction, it suffices to consider the case where n=2n = 2. By hypothesis, there exist a,a′∈a,b1∈b1,b2∈b2a, a' \in a, b_1 \in b_1, b_2 \in b_2 such that 1=a+b1=a′+b21 = a + b_1 = a' + b_2. Then

1=a′+(a+b1)b2=(a′+ab2)+b1b2∈a+b1b2, 1 = a' + (a + b_1) b_2 = (a' + a b_2) + b_1 b_2 \in a + b_1 b_2,
whence A=a+b1b2A = a + b_1 b_2.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
