Algebra, chapter IV, § 1. Polynomials

Let mm be the ideal of polynomials u∈A[X]u \in A[X] such that u(a)=0u(a) = 0. Then mm is generated by the polynomials Xi−aiX_i - a_i (for i∈Ii \in I).

It is clear that Xi−ai∈mX_i - a_i \in m for each i∈Ii \in I. Let u∈mu \in m and let vv be as in Prop. 2. Since vv has no constant term, there exists a family (Pi)i∈I(P_i)_{i \in I}, of polynomials in A[X]A[X] with finite support such that

v(X)=∑i∈IXi⋅Pi(X). v(X) = \sum_{i \in I} X_i \cdot P_i(X).

If we replace XiX_i by Xi−aiX_i - a_i for each i∈Ii \in I in the above equation, we obtain a relation of the form u(X)=∑i∈I(Xi−ai)⋅Pi′(X)u(X) = \sum_{i \in I} (X_i - a_i) \cdot P'_i(X), whence the corollary.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
