Algebra, chapter IV, § 4. Formal power series

Let (uλ)λ∈L(u_\lambda)_{\lambda \in L} and (vμ)μ∈M(v_\mu)_{\mu \in M} be two summable families of elements of A[[I]]\mathbf{A}[[\mathbf{I}]]. Then the family (uλvμ)(λ,μ)∈L×M(u_\lambda v_\mu)_{(\lambda, \mu) \in L \times M} is summable and we have

∑(λ,μ)∈L×Muλvμ=(∑λ∈Luλ)(∑μ∈Mvμ) \sum_{(\lambda, \mu) \in L \times M} u_\lambda v_\mu = \left( \sum_{\lambda \in L} u_\lambda \right) \left( \sum_{\mu \in M} v_\mu \right)

Let (αλ,ν)ν∈N(I)(\alpha_{\lambda, \nu})_{\nu \in \mathbf{N}^{(I)}} (resp. (βμ,ν)ν∈N(I)(\beta_{\mu, \nu})_{\nu \in \mathbf{N}^{(I)}}) be the family of coefficients of uλu_\lambda (resp. vνv_\nu). For each ν∈N(I)\nu \in \mathbf{N}^{(I)} there exists only a finite number of pairs (ν1,ν2)∈N(I)×N(I)(\nu_1, \nu_2) \in \mathbf{N}^{(I)} \times \mathbf{N}^{(I)} such that ν1+ν2=ν\nu_1 + \nu_2 = \nu, hence only a finite number of pairs (λ,μ)∈L×M(\lambda, \mu) \in L \times M such that the coefficient of XνX^\nu in uλvμu_\lambda v_\mu is ≠0\neq 0. Hence the family (uλvμ)(λ,μ)∈L×J(u_\lambda v_\mu)_{(\lambda, \mu) \in L \times \mathscr{J}} is summable. Now the formula (2) follows from the associativity of the sum (Gen. Top., III, p. 265, formula (2)).

In A[[I]]\mathbf{A}[[\mathbf{I}]] the product is an associative and commutative composition law. We may therefore speak of a multipliable family of elements of A[[I]]\mathbf{A}[[\mathbf{I}]] and of the product of a multipliable family (Gen. Top., III, p. 262, remark 3).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
