Algebra, chapter V, § 10. Galois extensions

— The restriction homomorphism of Gal(N/K)\mathrm{Gal}(N/K) into Gal(L/K)\mathrm{Gal}(L/K) is surjective.

More generally, consider two subextensions L and L' of N, and a K-isomorphism uu of L onto L'. Choose an algebraic closure Ω\Omega of K containing N as subextension (V, p. 23, Th. 2). There exists a K-automorphism vv of Ω\Omega which coincides with uu on L (V, p. 52, Prop. 1), and since N is a quasi-Galois extension of K, vv induces a K-automorphism σ\sigma of N (V, p. 55, Remark 1). In other words, the element σ\sigma of Gal(N/K)\mathrm{Gal}(N/K) coincides with uu on L.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
