Algebra, chapter V, § 13. p-radical extensions of height _ 1

— Let x=(xi)i∈Ix = (x_i)_{i \in I} be a p-basis of K. For every integer n≥1n \geq 1, the family (xu)u∈Λ(n)(x^u)_{u \in \Lambda(n)} is a basis of K over KpnK^{p^n}.

For n=1n = 1 the assertion reduces to Prop. 1 (V, p. 98). The set Λ(n)\Lambda(n) consists of elements of N(I)N^{(I)} of the form a=β+pn−1γa = \beta + p^{n-1}\gamma with β∈Λ(n−1)\beta \in \Lambda(n-1) and γ∈Λ(1)\gamma \in \Lambda(1). Such a decomposition is unique and we have xα=xβ(xγ)pn−1x^\alpha = x^\beta (x^\gamma)^{p^{n-1}}. Moreover, the family (xipn−1)i∈I(x_i^{p^{n-1}})_{i \in I} is clearly a p-basis of Kpn−1K^{p^{n-1}} over KpnK^{p^n}, hence the family (xγ)pn−1(x^\gamma)^{p^{n-1}} is a basis of Kpn−1K^{p^{n-1}} over KpnK^{p^n}. We thus obtain the conclusion by induction, using II, p. 222, Prop. 25.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
