Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter I, § 6. Semi-simple Lie algebras

Let gg be a Lie algebra, hh a subalgebra reductive in gg, ρ\rho a representation of gg on a vector space VV and WW the sum of the finite-dimensional subspaces of VV which are simple hh-modules. Then WW is stable under ρ(g)\rho(g).

Let W0W_0 be a finite-dimensional simple sub-hh-module of VV. We need to prove that ρ(x)(W0)⊂W\rho(x)(W_0) \subset W for all x∈gx \in g. Let MM denote the vector space gg considered as an hh-module by means of the representation x↦ad⁡gxx \mapsto \operatorname{ad}_g x of hh on gg. Then M⊗KW0M \otimes_K W_0 is a semi-simple hh-module (Corollary 1 to Theorem 4). Let θ\theta be the K-linear mapping of M⊗KW0M \otimes_K W_0 into V defined by θ(x⊗w)=ρ(x)w\theta(x \otimes w) = \rho(x)w. This is an h\mathfrak{h}-module homomorphism, for if y∈hy \in \mathfrak{h} then:

θ([y,x]⊗w+x⊗ρ(y)w)=ρ([y,x])w+ρ(x)ρ(y)w=ρ(y)ρ(x)w=ρ(y)θ(x⊗w). \begin{align*} \theta([y, x] \otimes w + x \otimes \rho(y)w) &= \rho([y, x])w + \rho(x)\rho(y)w \\ &= \rho(y)\rho(x)w = \rho(y)\theta(x \otimes w). \end{align*}

Hence θ(M⊗KW0)\theta(M \otimes_K W_0) is a finite-dimensional semi-simple h\mathfrak{h}-module. Hence θ(M⊗KW0)⊂W\theta(M \otimes_K W_0) \subset W, that is ρ(x)(W0)⊂W\rho(x)(W_0) \subset W for all x∈gx \in g.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
