Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter V, § 2. Reflections

*Let HH and H′H' be two parallel, non-isotropic hyperplanes of EE. There exists a unique vector v∈Vv \in V orthogonal to HH and such that H′=H+vH' = H + v. The displacement sH′sHs_{H'} s_H is the translation by the vector 2v2v.

The existence and uniqueness of vv are immediate. The automorphism of VV associated to sH′sHs_{H'} s_H is the identity; thus sH′sHs_{H'} s_H is a translation. On the other hand, let a∈H′a \in H'; then a−v∈Ha - v \in H and

sH′sH(a−v)=sH′(a−v)=a+v=(a−v)+2v, s_{H'} s_H(a - v) = s_{H'}(a - v) = a + v = (a - v) + 2v,

showing that sH′sHs_{H'} s_H is the translation by the vector 2v2v.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
