General Topology, chapter II, § 1. Uniform spaces

The interiors (resp. the closures) of the entourages of XX in X×XX \times X form a fundamental system of entourages of XX.

If VV is any entourage of XX, there is a symmetric entourage WW such that W⊂VW \subset V; since WW is a neighbourhood of WW (Proposition 2), the interior of VV in X×XX \times X contains WW and is therefore an entourage. Furthermore, we have W⊂W⊂W⊂VW \subset W \subset W \subset V by Proposition 2, and hence VV contains the closure of an entourage.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
