General Topology, chapter II, § 3. Complete spaces

*Let XX be a uniform space. For each Cauchy filter F\mathfrak{F} on XX there is a unique minimal Cauchy filter F0\mathfrak{F}_0 coarser than F\mathfrak{F}. If B\mathfrak{B} is a base of F\mathfrak{F} and G\mathfrak{G} is a fundamental system of symmetric entourages of XX, then the sets V(M)V(M) (M∈B,V∈GM \in \mathfrak{B}, V \in \mathfrak{G}) form a base of F0\mathfrak{F}_0.

If M,M′M, M' are in B\mathfrak{B} and V,V′V, V' are in G\mathfrak{G}, then there is a set M′′∈BM'' \in \mathfrak{B} (resp. V′′∈GV'' \in \mathfrak{G}) such that M′′⊂M∩M′M'' \subset M \cap M' (resp. V′′⊂V∩V′V'' \subset V \cap V'); hence V′′(M′′)⊂V(M)∩V′(M′)V''(M'') \subset V(M) \cap V'(M') and therefore the sets V(M)V(M) (M∈B,V∈GM \in \mathfrak{B}, V \in \mathfrak{G}) indeed form a base of a filter F0\mathfrak{F}_0 on XX. Further, if MM is VV-small, then V(M)V(M) is VV-small; hence F0\mathfrak{F}_0 is a Cauchy filter and is clearly coarser than F\mathfrak{F}. To complete the proof it is enough to show that if G\mathfrak{G} is a Cauchy filter coarser than F\mathfrak{F}, then G\mathfrak{G} is finer than F0\mathfrak{F}_0. For each M∈BM \in \mathfrak{B} and each V∈GV \in \mathfrak{G} there is a set N∈GN \in \mathfrak{G} which is VV-small; since N∈FN \in \mathfrak{F}, NN meets MM; hence N⊂V(M)N \subset V(M) and so V(M)∈GV(M) \in \mathfrak{G}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
