General Topology, chapter III, § 3. Uniform structures on groups

Let GG be a topological group which has a Hausdorff completion G^′\hat{G}'. Then every continuous homomorphism uu of GG into a complete Hausdorff group HH can be uniquely factorized into u=v∘φu = v \circ \varphi, where vv is a continuous homomorphism of G^′\hat{G}' into HH and φ\varphi is the canonical mapping of GG into G^′\hat{G}' (the composition of the canonical injection of G′G' into G^′\hat{G}' and the canonical homomorphism ψ\psi of GG onto G/N=G′G/N = G').

Since the kernel of uu is closed and contains ee, it contains NN, and hence uu can be written as u=w∘ψu = w \circ \psi, where ww is a continuous homomorphism of G′G' into HH; now apply Proposition 5 of no. 3 to ww.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
