General Topology, chapter III, § 5. Infinite sums in commutative groups

When II is finite, Definition 1 reduces to the ordinary definition of the sum of a finite family. More generally, if II is arbitrary and xi=0x_i = 0 except when the index ii belongs to a finite subset JJ of II, then the sum ∑i∈Ixi\sum_{i \in I} x_i is equal to ∑i∈Jxi\sum_{i \in J} x_i.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
