General Topology, chapter IX, § 3. Metrizable groups, valued fields, normed spaces and algebras

The absolute value of a real number (Chapter IV, § 1, no. 6) satisfies axioms (VM_I), (VM_{II}) and (VM_{III}), and the topology it defines on the field R\mathbf{R} is the topology of the real line. On the field C\mathbf{C} of complex numbers (identified with R2\mathbf{R}^2) [resp. the division ring H\mathbf{H} of quaternions (identified with R4\mathbf{R}^4)] the Euclidean norm is again an absolute value and defines the topology of the field C\mathbf{C} (resp. the division ring H\mathbf{H}) (Chapter VIII, § 1, nos. 2 and 4).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
