General Topology, chapter IX, § 3. Metrizable groups, valued fields, normed spaces and algebras

The proof of Proposition 5 shows that, if the topology defined by ∣x∣2|x|_2 is coarser than that defined by ∣x∣1|x|_1, and if ∣x∣1|x|_1 is not improper, then ∣x∣1|x|_1 and ∣x∣2|x|_2 are equivalent, for the relation ∣x∣2<1|x|_2 < 1 then implies ∣x∣2<1|x|_2 < 1. Thus the topologies defined by two absolute values on KK, neither of which is improper, cannot be comparable without being identical.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
