Commutative Algebra, chapter III, § 2. General results on filtered rings and modules

Let AA be a complete Hausdorff filtered commutative ring, CC a subring of A0A_0 such that C∩An=0C \cap A_n = 0 and (xi)1≤i≤q(x_i)_{1 \leq i \leq q} a finite family of elements of AA such that xi∈Anix_i \in A_{n_i} where ni>0n_i > 0 for 1≤i≤q1 \leq i \leq q; let ξi\xi_i be the class of xix_i in grni(A)\mathrm{gr}_{n_i}(A) for 1≤i≤q1 \leq i \leq q.

(i) There exists a unique CC-homomorphism vv from the algebra of formal power series A′′=C[[X1,…,Xq]]A'' = \mathbf{C}[[X_1, \ldots, X_q]] to AA such that v(Xi)=xiv(X_i) = x_i for 1≤i≤q1 \leq i \leq q.

(ii) If the family (ξi)(\xi_i) is algebraically free over CC, the homomorphism vv is injective.

(iii) If the filtration on AA is exhaustive and the family (ξi)(\xi_i) is a system of generators of the CC-algebra gr(A)\mathrm{gr}(A), the homomorphism vv is surjective.

As ni≥1n_i \geq 1 for all ii, ∑i=1qnis(i)≥∑i=1qs(i)\sum_{i=1}^q n_i s(i) \geq \sum_{i=1}^q s(i) for every monomial X1s(1)…Xqs(q)X_1^{s(1)} \ldots X_q^{s(q)} and on the other hand ∑i=1qnis(i)≤r⋅∑i=1qs(i)\sum_{i=1}^q n_i s(i) \leq r \cdot \sum_{i=1}^q s(i) if rr is the greatest of the nin_i. If An′′A''_n denotes the set of formal power series whose non-zero terms asX1s(1)…Xqs(q)a_s X_1^{s(1)} \ldots X_q^{s(q)} satisfy ∑i=1qnis(i)≥n\sum_{i=1}^q n_i s(i) \geq n, it follows from no. 6, Corollary to Proposition 6 that A′′A'' is Hausdorff and complete with the exhaustive filtration (An′′)(A''_n) and that

A′=C[X1,…,Xq] A' = \mathbf{C}[X_1, \ldots, X_q]

is dense in A′′A''; moreover the homomorphism uu defined in the proof of Proposition 10 is continuous on A′A' and can be extended uniquely to a continuous homomorphism v:A→Av : A \to A, since AA is Hausdorff and complete (General Topology, Chapter III, § 3, no. 3, Proposition 5), which proves (i); also, gr(A′′)=gr(A′)\mathrm{gr}(A'') = \mathrm{gr}(A') and gr(v)=gr(u)\mathrm{gr}(v) = \mathrm{gr}(u); (ii) and (iii) then follow respectively from Corollaries 1 and 2 to Theorem 1 of no. 8 in view of the hypotheses on AA.

The conclusion of (ii) (resp. (iii)) of the proposition is sometimes expressed by saying that the family (xi)(x_i) is formally free over CC (resp. a formal system of generators of AA).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
