Algebra, chapter V, § 15. Separable extensions

— Let KK be a field and A,BA, B commutative KK-algebras. If AA is reduced and BB separable then A⊗KBA \otimes_K B is reduced.

By the Cor. of Prop. 2 (V, p. 119) AA is isomorphic to a subalgebra of a product ∏i∈ILi\prod_{i \in I} L_i where LiL_i is an extension of KK for i∈Ii \in I. Therefore A⊗KBA \otimes_K B is isomorphic to a subring of (∏i∈ILi)⊗KB\left( \prod_{i \in I} L_i \right) \otimes_K B and this latter ring is isomorphic to a subring of ∏i∈I(Li⊗KB)\prod_{i \in I} (L_i \otimes_K B) (II, p. 306, Prop. 15). Since BB is separable, each of the rings Li⊗KBL_i \otimes_K B is reduced, and so the same is true of ∏i∈I(Li⊗KB)\prod_{i \in I} (L_i \otimes_K B), and a fortiori of A⊗KBA \otimes_K B.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
