Integration, IX, p. 26, § 2. Operations on measures

Let π\pi be a μ\mu-proper mapping of T into a topological space X. There exists one and only one measure ν\nu on X such that ν∙\nu^\bullet is equal to the image encumbrance π(μ∙)\pi(\mu^\bullet) (§1, No. 1), in other words, such that ν∙(g)=μ∙(g∘π)\nu^\bullet(g) = \mu^\bullet(g \circ \pi) for all g∈F+(X)g \in \mathscr{F}_+(X).

Uniqueness is obvious (§1, No. 2, Cor. of Prop. 2). To establish existence, we shall first treat the case that μ\mu is carried by a compact set K, such that the restriction of π\pi to K is continuous. Then L=π(K)L = \pi(K) is compact; let π′\pi' be the continuous mapping of K into L induced by π\pi, and let ν′\nu' be the image measure π′(μK)\pi'(\mu_K) on L, ν\nu the measure on X defined by ν′\nu' (§1, No. 3, Example 2). For every g∈F+(X)g \in \mathscr{F}_+(X),

ν∙(g)=ν′∙(gL)=μK∙(gL∘π′)=μK∙((g∘π)K)=μ∙((g∘π)K0)=μ∙(g∘π) \nu^\bullet(g) = {\nu'}^\bullet(g_L) = \mu_K^\bullet(g_L \circ \pi') = \mu_K^\bullet((g \circ \pi)_K) = \mu^\bullet((g \circ \pi)_K^0) = \mu^\bullet(g \circ \pi)

(we have used successively formula (3) of §1, No. 3; Prop. 2 of Ch. V, §6, No. 2; the definition of μK∙\mu_K^\bullet; and the fact that μ\mu is carried by K). In other words, ν∙=π(μ∙)\nu^\bullet = \pi(\mu^\bullet).

Let us now pass to the general case; by Props. 10 and 9 of §1, No. 8, μ\mu is the sum of a summable family (μα)α∈A(\mu_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} of measures with compact support, such that the restriction of π\pi to the support KαK_\alpha of μα\mu_\alpha is continuous for every α∈A\alpha \in A. The special case treated above permits associating to each measure μα\mu_\alpha on T a measure να\nu_\alpha on X such that να∙=π(μα∙)\nu_\alpha^\bullet = \pi(\mu_\alpha^\bullet). Then, for g∈F+(X)g \in \mathscr{F}_+(X),

∑α∈Aνα∙(g)=∑α∈Aμα∙(g∘π)=μ∙(g∘π). \sum_{\alpha \in A} \nu_\alpha^\bullet(g) = \sum_{\alpha \in A} \mu_\alpha^\bullet(g \circ \pi) = \mu^\bullet(g \circ \pi).

The encumbrance π(μ∙)\pi(\mu^\bullet) is locally bounded, since π\pi is μ\mu-proper; the family (να)α∈A(\nu_\alpha)_{\alpha \in A} is therefore summable (§1, No. 7, Prop. 7), and its sum ν\nu satisfies the statement.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
