Lie Groups and Lie Algebras, chapter V, § 3. Groups of displacements generated by reflections

Assume that the group W is essential and finite. Then: (i) There exists a unique point a of E invariant under W. (ii) The family (c_H)_{H \in \mathscr{M}} is a basis of T. (iii) The chamber C is the open simplicial cone with vertex a defined by the basis (e'_H)_{H \in \mathscr{M}} of T such that (e_H|e'_H') = \delta_{HH'}.

(i) By Prop. 4 of no. 6, there exists a point a∈Ea \in E invariant under WW. Let t∈Tt \in T be such that t+at + a is invariant under WW. For all w∈Ww \in W,

U(w).t+a=w(t+a)=t+a, U(w).t + a = w(t + a) = t + a,
so U(w).t=tU(w).t = t; since WW is essential, this implies that t=0t = 0, showing the uniqueness of aa.

(ii) Since WW is essential, T=T1T = T_1 in the notation of no. 7, and Prop. 5, (iv) shows that the family (eH)H∈M(e_H)_{H \in \mathscr{M}} generates the vector space TT. The existence of a point of EE invariant under WW shows that the family (eH)H∈M(e_H)_{H \in \mathscr{M}} is free (no. 6, Prop. 4).

(iii) Let aa be the unique point of EE invariant under WW. Since (eH)H∈M(e_H)_{H \in \mathscr{M}} is a basis of TT, and since the scalar product is a non-degenerate bilinear form on TT, there exists a unique basis (eH′)H∈M(e'_H)_{H \in \mathscr{M}} of TT such that (eH∣eH′′)=δHH′(e_H|e'_{H'}) = \delta_{HH'} for H,H′H, H' in M\mathscr{M}. Every point xx of EE can be written uniquely in the form x=t+ax = t + a with t=∑H∈MξHeH′t = \sum_{H \in \mathscr{M}} \xi_H e'_H and the ξH\xi_H real. Then xx belongs to CC if and only if, for every hyperplane H∈MH \in \mathscr{M}, xx is on the same side of HH as eHe_H, or in other words (t∣eH)=ξH(t|e_H) = \xi_H is strictly positive. Hence (iii).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
