General Topology, chapter I, § 8. Hausdorff spaces and regular spaces

Let XX be a topological space and suppose that for each pair of distinct points x,yx, y of XX there is a continuous mapping ff of XX into a Hausdorff space X′X' such that f(x)≠f(y)f(x) \neq f(y). Then XX is Hausdorff.

Let V′V' and W′W' be disjoint neighbourhoods of f(x)f(x) and f(y)f(y) respectively in X′X'; then f‾−1(V′)\overline{f}^{-1}(V') and f‾−1(W′)\overline{f}^{-1}(W') are disjoint neighbourhoods of xx and yy respectively in XX.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
