General Topology, chapter VI, § 2. Euclidean distance, balls and spheres

If n>1n > 1, the Euclidean sphere Sn−1S_{n-1} is homeomorphic to the space Rn−1\mathbf{R}^{n-1} made compact by adjoining a "point at infinity"(Chapter I, § 9, no. 8, Theorem 4).

For the stereographic projection defines a homeomorphism of the complement of a point in Sn−1S_{n-1} onto a hyperplane of Rn\mathbf{R}^n, which is homeomorphic to Rn−1\mathbf{R}^{n-1}.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
