— Let λ be a positive measure on X/H.
a) Let N be a subset of X/H. For N to be locally λ-negligible, it is necessary and sufficient that π−1(N) be locally λ#-negligible.
b) Let g be a function on X/H, with values in a topological space. For g to be λ-measurable, it is necessary and sufficient that g∘π be λ#-measurable.
c) Let h be a function on X/H, with values in a Banach space or in R. For h to be locally λ-integrable, it is necessary and sufficient that h∘π be locally λ#-integrable, in which case (h⋅λ)#=(h∘π)⋅λ#.
Suppose h∘π is locally λ#-integrable. For every f∈K(X), f⋅(h∘π) is λ#-integrable, therefore (Prop. 5) the function (f⋅(h∘π))b=fb⋅h is λ-integrable and
∫X/Hfb⋅hdλ=∫Xf⋅(h∘π)dλ#.
Since f↦fb is a surjective mapping of K(X) onto K(X/H), this shows that h is locally λ-integrable and that
(h⋅λ)#=(h∘π)⋅λ#.
In particular, if π−1(N) is locally λ#-negligible, then φN∘π is locally λ#-negligible, therefore (φN⋅λ)#=(φN∘π)⋅λ#=0, consequently φN⋅λ=0 and N is locally λ-negligible. Now suppose that g∘π is λ#-measurable. Let K' be a compact subset of X/H. Let f∈K+(X) be such that fb=1 on K' (No. 1, Prop. 2), and let K=Suppf; one has π(K)⊃K′. There exists a partition of K formed of a λ#-negligible set M and a sequence (Kn) of compact sets such that (g∘π)∣Kn is continuous for every n. Then g∣π(Kn) is continuous. Let P be the set of points of K' not belonging to π(K1)∪π(K2)∪…; then π−1(P)∩K is contained in M, hence is λ#-negligible; therefore f⋅φπ−1(P) is λ#-negligible; it follows (Prop. 5) that
0=∫Xf⋅φπ−1(P)dλ#=∫X/Hfb⋅φPdλ≥∫X/H∗φPdλ,
therefore P is λ-negligible, and g is λ-measurable.
If N is locally λ-negligible, then π−1(N) is locally λ#-negligible (Ch. V, §6, No. 6, Cor. 1 of Prop. 10). If g is λ-measurable, then g∘π is λ#-measurable (ibid.). Finally, suppose h is locally λ-integrable. Then we already know that h∘π is λ#-measurable. For every f∈K+(X) we have, by Prop. 5,
∫X∗f(x)∣h∣(π(x))dλ#(x)=∫X/H∗∣h∣(u)fb(u)dλ(u)<+∞,
therefore h∘π is locally λ#-integrable.
Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
