General Topology, chapter I, § 10. Proper mappings

Let f:X→Yf : X \to Y be a proper mapping, where XX is Hausdorff. Then the subspace f(X)f(X) of YY is Hausdorff.

By reason of Proposition 5 c) we need only consider the case where f(X)=Yf(X) = Y. Then the diagonal of Y×YY \times Y is the image under f×ff \times f of the diagonal of XX, which is closed (§ 8, no. 1, Proposition 1); f×ff \times f is proper (Proposition 4); hence the diagonal of Y×YY \times Y is closed (Proposition 1) and therefore YY is Hausdorff (§ 8, no. 1, Proposition 1).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
