General Topology, chapter III, § 3. Uniform structures on groups

Let GG be a commutative group, and let T1,T2\mathfrak{T}_1, \mathfrak{T}_2 be two Hausdorff topologies compatible with the group structure of GG. Suppose that T1\mathfrak{T}_1 is finer than T2\mathfrak{T}_2 and that there is a fundamental system of neighbourhoods of oo for T1\mathfrak{T}_1 which are closed for T2\mathfrak{T}_2. Let G1,G2G_1, G_2 be the completions of GG with respect to the topologies T1,T2\mathfrak{T}_1, \mathfrak{T}_2 respectively, and let f:G1→G2f : G_1 \to G_2 be the continuous homomorphism which extends the identity mapping of GG (no. 3, Proposition 5). Then ff is injective.

Suppose that GG is written additively. Let U1\mathfrak{U}_1 be the uniformity on GG corresponding (no. 1) to the topology T1\mathfrak{T}_1: it will suffice to show that if F\mathfrak{F} and F′\mathfrak{F}' are two minimal Cauchy filters (Chapter II, § 3, no. 2) with respect to U1\mathfrak{U}_1, which converge in G2G_2 to the same point aa, then F=F′\mathfrak{F} = \mathfrak{F}' (Chapter II, § 3, no. 7). For this, it is enough to show that F∩F′\mathfrak{F} \cap \mathfrak{F}' is a Cauchy filter with respect to U1\mathfrak{U}_1. Let VV be a neighbourhood of oo in GG with respect to T1\mathfrak{T}_1, such that VV is closed in T2\mathfrak{T}_2, and let WW be a symmetric neighbourhood of oo in GG with respect to T1\mathfrak{T}_1, such that W+W⊂VW + W \subset V. By hypothesis, there is a WdW_d-small set MM (resp. M′M') in F\mathfrak{F} (resp. F′\mathfrak{F}'); if x∈Mx \in M and y∈My \in M we have y−x∈Wy - x \in W, i.e. y∈x+Wy \in x + W. If W‾\overline{W} and V‾\overline{V} are the closures of WW and VV in G2G_2, it follows that y∈x+W‾y \in x + \overline{W}, and therefore, since aa is in the closure of MM, that a∈x+W‾a \in x + \overline{W} for each x∈Mx \in M. Similarly, a∈x′+W‾a \in x' + \overline{W} for each x′∈M′x' \in M', and hence x−x′∈W‾+W‾x - x' \in \overline{W} + \overline{W}; but since (x,y)→x+y(x, y) \to x + y is a continuous mapping of G2×G2G_2 \times G_2 into G2G_2, we have W‾+W‾⊂W‾+W‾⊂V‾\overline{W} + \overline{W} \subset \overline{W} + \overline{W} \subset \overline{V}. It follows that if x∈Mx \in M and x′∈M′x' \in M', then x−x′∈V‾∩G=Vx - x' \in \overline{V} \cap G = V, because VV is closed in T2\mathfrak{T}_2; and this completes the proof.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
