General Topology, chapter I, § 10. Proper mappings

Let f:X→Yf : X \to Y be a continuous injection. Then the following three statements are equivalent: a) ff is proper. b) ff is closed. c) ff is a homeomorphism of XX onto a closed subset of YY.

We have just seen that a) implies b). Since the equivalence relation f(x)=f(x′)f(x) = f(x') is the equality relation, the quotient space of XX with respect to this relation can be identified with XX; hence b) implies c) by reason of § 5, no. 2, Proposition 3. Finally, if c) is satisfied then f×ιZf \times \iota_Z is a homeomorphism of X×ZX \times Z onto a closed subspace of Y×ZY \times Z and is therefore a closed mapping; hence c) implies a).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
