General Topology, chapter III, § 4. Groups operating properly on a topological space; compact ness in topological groups and spaces with operators

Let G be a topological group operating continuously on a topological space X, and let K be a quasi-compact subset of G. Then the mapping ρ:(s,x)→s.x\rho : (s, x) \to s.x of K×XK \times X into X is proper.

ρ\rho factorizes into K×X→K×X→pr2XK \times X \to K \times X \xrightarrow{\mathrm{pr}_2} X, where α(s,x)=(s,s.x)\alpha(s, x) = (s, s.x). α\alpha is a homeomorphism, for α−1:(s,y)→(s,s−1.y)\alpha^{-1} : (s, y) \to (s, s^{-1}.y) is continuous. Since K is quasi-compact, pr2\mathrm{pr}_2 is proper (Chapter I, § 10, no. 2, Theorem 1, Corollary 5); hence ρ\rho is proper (Chapter I, § 10, no. 1, Proposition 5).

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
