General Topology, chapter I, § 9. Compact spaces and locally compact spaces

If ff is a continuous mapping of a quasi-compact space XX into a topological space X′X', then the set f(X)f(X) is quasi-compact.

Let R\mathscr{R} be a covering of f(X)f(X) by open sets in X′X'; then f‾−1(R)\overline{f}^{-1}(\mathscr{R}) is an open covering of XX (§ 2, no. 1, Theorem 1); hence there is a finite subset S\mathscr{S} of R\mathscr{R} such that (Sf‾)(\mathscr{S} \overline{f}) is a covering of XX; but then S\mathscr{S} is a covering of f(X)f(X) and the theorem is proved.

Bourbaki puts the proof directly after the statement, so what is above is the statement and its proof together.
